There was a moment during the Mysa Hus Collective Mixer when I stopped to take it all in. Live music drifted in from the driveway. People were gathered around the pool laughing. Industry partners who had spent the last two years helping bring this project to life were walking through the finished home together, pointing out details, sharing stories, and reconnecting with friends. This event showcased the power and importance of construction industry networking events, bringing professionals together in a meaningful way.

For a builder, those moments don't happen very often. Two years of work. Hundreds of decisions. Countless conversations. And for one morning, all of it came together in a way I'll never forget.

More Than a Home: Construction Industry Networking Events in Action

Mysa Hus has never been just another custom home project. From the beginning, we were exploring a philosophy of living inspired by Scandinavian design principles: intentionality, wellness, simplicity, and creating spaces that support the way people live.

Every decision was filtered through that lens. How does this improve daily life? How does this create calm? How does this contribute to health, wellness, and connection?

Over the last two years, more than 30 brand partners joined us in bringing that vision to life. Each partner contributed something unique, whether it was windows, materials, systems, finishes, furnishings, or technology. Today we have a home that feels cohesive because everyone involved was aligned around the same goal.

Opening the Doors to Networking Opportunities

On June 9th, we had the opportunity to share the finished project with the Minneapolis Collective community, and there really wasn't a better place to host a gathering like this than inside Mysa Hus itself. It was a prime example of how construction industry networking events can foster collaboration and community spirit.

Guests arrived to the sound of live music from Nelson Ny-Devereaux, the perfect choice for this experience. As guests made their way through the property, the energy continued into the backyard where DJ Elizabeth Kallstrom from TOTO kept things lively around the pool. The entire morning felt intentional from start to finish.

A custom coffee cart served both hot and iced drinks, complete with custom Mysa Hus latte art that quickly became a crowd favorite. Guests enjoyed yogurt parfaits and treats from Something Sweetish while conversations flowed naturally throughout the house and outdoor spaces. And because details matter, we sent everyone home with a little Mysa Hus swag as a reminder of the day.

One of my favorite parts was seeing so many of our partners represented throughout the event. Companies like Pella, Pentair, Emser, Stark, and All Inc., TOTO, and many others were there alongside the people who helped shape the vision from day one. Melissa from OHO Interiors was there and so was Karl from KA Designs. Our entire MDW team was there. And most importantly, the community that has grown around these relationships was there.

Why This Morning Mattered for the Construction Industry

The truth is, the house was only part of the story. What mattered most was the people inside it. Throughout the morning, there was this constant energy that filled every space. Conversations overlapped. People moved easily from one room to another. Laughter echoed through the house and across the backyard.

Nobody was standing awkwardly by themselves or needed an introduction to feel welcome. People genuinely wanted to be there.

I love bringing people together like that. Whether it's through The Curious Builder Podcast, our Collective events, jobsite tours, or gatherings like this, I've always believed our industry gets better when we spend more time connecting with each other.

Builders learn from designers. Architects learn from builders. Trades learn from suppliers. Everyone benefits when knowledge, relationships, and experiences are shared openly. Watching two years of work come to life through the relationships that helped build it was easily the most memorable part of the entire project.

    Embrace Networking Events

If there's one thing I hope builders, designers, architects, and trades take away from this event, it's this: Host the event. Open the doors. Invite people in. Too often we finish a project, take the photos, post them online, and move on to the next thing.

But some of the most valuable opportunities happen when we create spaces for people to gather around the work. Bring your partners together. Celebrate the people who helped make the project possible. Create opportunities for conversations that wouldn't happen otherwise.

The connections formed in those moments are worth more than any marketing campaign you'll ever run. That's what the Mysa Hus Collective Mixer reminded me of. At the end of the day, we're not just building homes, we're building communities. And that's a project worth investing in every single time.
